I noticed that when bi-directional power transmission is modeled in the EU-TIMES model, the same area is defined once in reg1 and once in reg2. Do I still need to define this process twice when I have defined the TradeLink attribute as B?

In addition, the commodity GN1 defined in the unidirectional power transmission does not have a flow relationship with ELCHIG.
Looking forward to your reply.

Welcome to the ETSAP Forum. This is the TIMES sub-forum, where you can post questions/observations about the TIMES model generator. Your questions appear to be related to specifying trade links in a specific model, the JRC-EU-TIMES model, by using the VEDA user shell, and so posting them here may not be the best place, as the VEDA / JRC experts are not likely following this forum.
I am neither an expert on the JRC-EU-TIMES model nor VEDA, but anyway, I do have the model files for that model, and I can see that it has bi-directional trade links originally specified with a trade matrix on the BI_ELC sheet, with 1 filled in for all the links in both directions. That would work correctly, even though due to the sheet name prefix "BI_", putting 1 for only a single direction should indeed be sufficient. Is that what you asked about?
I can also see that in the newer version of the model those links are defined on the sheet "Bi links for Veda2" with a ~TradeLinks_DINS table, and again in both directions. Again, to my knowledge the specification would work also without the second direction, because of the B under TradeLink. Is that what you asked about? You could ask for expert advice on the VEDA Forum.

I can see the trade links defined on the sheet UNI_Grid are all bi-directional links of an add-on grid for power flow modeling. So, there is no need for a direct flow relationship with ELCHIG (see the TIMES documentation on Electricity Grid modeling).
